Overview | Mathews Capital Peak Energy Global Resources Fund

The Mathews Capital Peak Energy and Global Resources Fund is an Australian domiciled unlisted trust launched in February 2011.  The Peak Energy and Global Resources Fund is managed by the firm’s founder and Managing Director, Philip Mathews.

The Fund has been seeded with capital provided by Philip Mathews and selected external investors.  The FuM as at 30 June 2011 was A$45 million.  The Manager expects to re-open the Fund to external investors later in 2011.

The Peak Energy and Global Resources Fund is a high conviction long/short strategy fund with a strong trading basis. Utilising  a moderate to high level of gearing, the Fund will take concentrated positions in specific listed securities the Manager believes to be undervalued.

The aim of the Fund is to capitalise on the expected peaking in world oil supply and the subsequent macroeconomics events.  Over the past decade, Mathews Capital has developed significant expertise in the energy sector through its original research efforts into global crude oil supply and demand.

The Fund may invest in other asset classes that may be directly or indirectly impacted by higher energy prices over the medium term.

The Fund may also opportunistically invest in securities unrelated to the impact of higher energy prices where the Manager believes the securities are fundamentally mispriced.
